Butler Community College International Student Insurance

Butler Community College, established in 1927, is a two-year community college located in El Dorado, Kansas. It opened as El Dorado Junior College, founded and operated by the El Dorado School Board with a hyper-local focus on El Dorado High School graduates. As such, enrollment numbers remained low through the Great Depression into World War II. In the 1960s, citizens launched a campaign to change the school’s name to Butler County Community Junior College. With the name change came a wider variety of students and increased awareness of the school and its offerings.

The school has since changed its name from Butler County Community Junior College to Butler County Community College to its current name. Currently, BCC enrolls more than 8,000 students and counting each year. The school’s colors are purple and gold, and its athletic nickname is the grizzlies.
