General Information

The Central Arizona College Aravaipa Campus, located in Winkelman, Arizona, is one of five campuses of Central Arizona College (CAC). The Aravaipa Campus was established in the early 1970s near the entrance to Aravaipa Canyon between the towns of Winkelman and Mammoth. It provides higher-education opportunities to eight nearby communities. The campus’ science facility takes advantage of the surrounding Aravaipa wilderness as an ecological study area. Another amenity is the student learning center, which offers tutoring. 

Academic Offerings

As a community college, CAC offers a wide variety of associate’s degrees and certificate programs. Associate’s degrees include the Associate of Arts, Associate of Business, Associate of Science, Associate of Applied Science, and the Associate of General Studies. It also offers the Arizona General Education Curriculum, which fulfills lower-division general education requirements and is applicable to a bachelor’s degree at any Arizona public university.

The Aravaipa Campus has partnerships with local organizations like the Copper Corridor Economic Development, the Hispanic Leadership Institute, and Cobre Valley Institute of Technology.

About Central Arizona College

CAC was established in 1969 to provide higher-education opportunities to the residents of Pinal County, Arizona. The college is made up of five campuses and three academic centers. It emphasizes its diverse population of local Latino and Native American students. Today, it enrolls about 6,000 students and counting each year across all of its locations. The school colors are green and gold, and its athletic nicknames are the vaqueros and the vaqueras.
