Hastings College International Student Insurance

Hastings College, located in Hastings, Nebraska, is a Presbyterian college established in 1882. In 1872, when the town of Hastings was just two years old, civic leaders proposed the founding of a Christian liberal arts college to further the education of its citizens. The community wholeheartedly approved. The college opened its doors to an initial class of 44 students in 1882 on the second story of a Post Office building. Two years later, the first campus building was completed. Today, Hastings College enrolls about 1,100 students and counting each year. The school colors are crimson and white, and its athletic nickname is the broncos.

Academic Offerings

Hastings offers more than 40 undergraduate majors, more than a dozen pre-professional programs, one master’s degree, and two certificate programs. Its offered degrees are Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Music, and Master of Arts in Teaching; the certificate programs are a Service Learning Certificate and a Diversity Certificate.

Student Life and Campus

Hastings encourages its students to study abroad: All sophomore students study abroad for no additional cost during a two-week block in their fall or spring semester. Popular destinations include England, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Ireland, and more. The school also provides substantial financial aid. Every student who applies and is accepted receives at least $11,000 in scholarship funding, and most receive more.

In 2017, twelve buildings from its campus were added to the National Register of Historic Places.

Notable Hastings College alumni include astronaut Clayton Anderson; NFL coach Bill Parcells; author Ivy Ruckman; and former Prime Minister of South Korea Yoo Chang-soon.
