The long and distinguished history of Pacific States University began in 1928 when it was founded by noted film sound engineer William G. Buffinger. The school was reorganized in 1939 and was given a charter by the State of California, granting it the permission to offer degrees.
Today, PSU’s student body draws from across the United States and some 40 countries. It boasts small class sizes, a multicultural student body, experienced faculty, and a unique location in a major metropolitan area with access to global markets.
PSU offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Business Administration, and master’s degrees in Computer Science and Information Systems.
There are two colleges at Pacific States University:
PSU offers unique research opportunities by not only providing access to their own University Library, but also to MELVYL, the online catalog network for the University of California. The Los Angeles Public Library also makes their research materials available to students.
PSU allows students to complete their degrees at a pace that fits their lives. They can elect to take classes during the day, during evenings, or on Saturdays. Students also have the option of attending classes during the summer.
Pacific States University is located in urban Los Angeles. The Southern California location is ideal for outdoor enjoyment all year long, especially during pleasantly warm winters. There are myriad museums, theatres, restaurants and attractions to enjoy throughout the area.
The urban location of Pacific States University may put students at greater risk of adverse effects from air pollution. Risks from seismic activity and nearby wildfires are possible as well.
Healthcare in the United States can be extremely expensive. So much so that it is not possible for most people to pay their medical bills out of their own pocket. To protect your finances from expensive medical bills, it is essential that you have adequate health insurance.
Pacific States University recommends all students have health insurance. PSU does not currently provide a health insurance plan to its international students. Those students will need to purchase a plan that fits all of their needs and requirements.
The value of health insurance is often not apparent until you need it. An injury or illness can happen at any time, and it’s essential to be able to receive quality treatment for it. By having medical insurance, you can receive necessary care without being solely responsible for an unaffordable bill.
To find the best coverage for you, it’s important to compare and contrast several different health insurance plans. Consider the premiums you would pay, the copay, and the amount you may have to pay out of your pocket for treatment before deciding on a plan that fits your needs best.
