University of Houston at Sugar Land International Student Insurance

The University of Houston at Sugar Land, located in Sugar Land, Texas, is a branch campus of the University of Houston founded in 1995. Unlike other schools in the University of Houston System, including those in Victoria, Clear Lake, and Downtown Houston, it is not a standalone university. The University of Houston-Victoria began offering classes at leased facilities in Sugar Land in 1994. Momentum grew and its campus began to significantly expand in 1998. In 2002, it gained its current name. Today, it enrolls about 2,200 students and counting. Its colors are scarlet red and albino white, and its athletic nickname is the cougar.

Campus Offerings

UH Sugar Land welcomes students who have completed their core classes and are ready to complete the degree requirements of their specific major. The university offers 10 undergraduate majors and 11 graduate and doctoral programs, as well as a professional certificate in speech language pathology. One notable offering is a Second Degree BSN program. Programs from five of UH’s 14 colleges (technology, nursing, liberal arts and social sciences, education, and social work) are represented in Sugar Land.

The university is home to three campus buildings—the Albert and Mamie George Building, Brazos Hall, and the College of Technology building, which opened in fall 2019—as well as the University Branch of the Fort Bend County Libraries system.
