Webster University International Student Insurance

Webster University was established in 1915. Its main campus is located in Webster Groves, Missouri, an inner suburb of the city of St. Louis. It was founded by the Sisters of Loretto as a Catholic women’s college, one of the first of its kind west of the Mississippi River. The first male students were admitted in 1962. In 1967, the sisters transferred ownership of the university to a lay Board of Directors. Today, Webster enrolls more than 12,500 students and counting each year. The school colors are Webster Blue and Gold, and its athletic nickname is the Gorloks. 

Academic Opportunities

Webster offers more than 100 undergraduate programs as well as graduate, post-graduate, doctoral, and certificate programs across its five colleges and schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the George Herbert Walker School of Business and Technology, the Leigh Gerdine College of Fine Arts, the School of Communications, and the School of Education. Research centers and institutes on campus include the Confucius Institute, which promotes the understanding of Chinese language and culture; the Centre Francophone, which creates the opportunity for students to learn about French-speaking countries and cultures; the Institute for Human Rights and Humanitarian Studies; and the Susan Polgar Institute for Chess Excellence.

Webster is unique in that it operates campuses in more than 60 U.S. cities in 19 states, as well as Washington, D.C. The vast majority of them are located on military bases to offer higher-education opportunities to active military personnel, their dependents, civil service employees, civilians, and retirees.

Notable Alumni

Notable Webster University alumni include actress Jenifer Lewis; Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter William Broad; comedian Rob Riggle; Emmy Award-winner Leyna Nguyen; former President of Indonesia Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono; and author and military veteran R. Alan King.
